What an amazing piece of history this is!!
This old cotton "Jacobs Ladder" feedsack quilt is from the USA and makes for a beautiful display piece. This one is from my own collection and is very hard to part with.... but it is time to downsize and for it to pass on to its next owner (which I am guessing is the next in a line of many) to enjoy!
It features a delightful mid to dark blue feedsack print hand-pieced with white cotton. It is also hand-quilted and the cotton binding has also been hand-stitched.
I bought this one over from the states nearly 20 years ago and it has taken pride of place in my collection ever since. The body of the quilt is in fabulous condition for its age, but please don't expect a perfect quilt as it is far from that. The edges show the wear and tear from its many years of love and use (see photos for details), so is not without its problems, but that is what makes it such a charming piece.
Perfect to display with your other quilts or vintage linen, throw over an armchair or fold as a runner at the end of your bed. I have one similar at the foot of my bed and it always gets comments when visitors walk past the room.
You just don't find these anymore!!
